  • Lawn Renovations & Turf Specialized Company -  Use of different services to provide a full program in addition to recommendations for proper watering of the lawn due to the ever-changing weather conditions.

De-Thatching: Spring visit to mechanically lower the high levels of thatch that will cause damage to existing and new turf areas.
Typically includes the pick-up and disposal of debris to a landfill.
Turf Care Program: Program of several applications for turf fertilization and weed control for the season.  Application schedule is based on weather conditions.  Examples:
April: Spring application of slow release fertilizer to promote plant growth and pre-emergent herbicide to control crabgrass.
May/June: Combination application of seasonal level of slow release fertilizer and post emergent broad leaf weed control.  (Dandelion, clover, plantain, ground ivy, creeping Charlie and mouse eared chickweed).
June/July:  Seasonal level of slow release fertilizer applied for nutritional needs of grass plant spot spraying with post-emergent broad leaf weed control as needed.  Fertilizer treatment to help grass plants recover from the stress of summer.  Proper nutrients encourage better defense against warm season diseases.  Spot spraying with post emergent broad leaf weed control as needed.
Sept/Nov:  Fall application to promote a stronger root development for winter/spring.  All applications are time and weather sensitive and are subject to change at the sole discretion of Green Concepts, Inc.

Lawn Core Aerification:  Aerification will improve air exchange in the soil structure, root growth throughout the lawn and nutrient uptake by grass plant.  This process will help reduce the amount of organic material (thatch) in a lawn that reduces the amount of nutrients and water that can reach the roots of the grass plant.  This should be done in spring or fall when soil temperatures are relatively cool.  Soil plugs should be left on the lawn as these will decompose and add nutrients to the lawn.

Slit Seeding:  A slit seeding machine is used to plant grass seeds into the soil.  This increases the amount of germination of the grass seeds.  This process should be done when soil temperatures are cool in the spring or fall if possible.  Slit seeding will increase the amount of desirable grass type’s through-out the lawn area.
